My friend Liz has a house on Lake Superior and I get invited to visit from time to time. Besides the cheese curds and Leinies, its a magical place to make art, especially in the fall. These images are from my visit in October 2014 and 2015.
Painting in Wisconsin is a great way for me to flex my muscle memory. The landscape is radically different to those I normally interact with on the east coast. Its fun and challenging. Its hard and frustrating. And even though its wicked cold at sunrise along the shores of Lake Superior, there is never a disappointing moment.
